Laura Donnelly shared their blog post on Facebook

Wrote a recent grant application that required only contact? information and a poem that reflects?Latinitas mission.? Disclaimer - had to write this on short notice!

?

Her numbers are large and fast growing, yet her voice barely heard.

A drop out, pregnant, futureless, media says.

Foreigners, moochers, illegals, the vitriol drolls.

?

But, we know her better. Her missing narrative.

She?s a writer, producer, scholar, leader

She?s culture, family, techie- el futuro.

?

She?s 9, 10, 16, 23 years old.

She?s from Mexico, Fresno, San Antonio, Salvador.

She came here just yesterday, but also has been here for generations.

?

Give her the tools, the weapons of pen

And she?ll kill the stereotypes. She?ll rewrite the scripts.

Give her the platforms ? a club, a byline, a camera.

She?ll connect to the world ? digitally, heartfelt.

?

She?s gonna change the game. She?s innovative.

We are just the first letting her know how to do it and where to say it.

Watch the ember spark. Empowered, mentored, published, broadcast, heard.
